This prestigious award celebrates Ellen's 60 years of dedicated patient care and her exceptional contributions to healthcare throughout South Carolina.
When: SCHCHA will honor Ellen during its annual H.O.M.E. Awards on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at noon.

Ellen began her career after graduating from Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing in the Bronx, New York in 1966. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ and later obtained both a Master’s in Public Administration and a Master’s in Professional Accountancy from Long Island University’s School of Business.
Starting as a hospital staff nurse with a focus on critical care, Ellen earned her Critical Care Nursing Certification in 1990. In 1992, she transitioned into home care and hospice, where she became a Clinical Nursing Supervisor, overseeing care for over 300 patients. Her role expanded as she took on the role of Director of Professional/Clinical Services, managing five adult home care teams.
In 2009, Ellen became an adjunct professor in the Nursing Graduate program at the College of Science and Health. She later relocated to Bluffton, SC in 2011, working in an outpatient surgical center. Since 2021, Ellen has been a valued PRN RN at Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, contributing her extensive expertise and dedication to support the organization’s mission to honor life by providing compassionate care and guidance for those in the community experiencing serious illness, end-of-life, and grief.
